they go from dirty to dirtiest over time, if you don't clean them at least occasionally, you'll continue to lose effectiveness. they need to be cleaned to be the most efficient. you paid all that money, to have it work 15% under capacity, and that number grows.

What if you covered the QiSa's 4th solar panel, the one directly connected to the battery pack, would that reduce the battery temperature/battery life of this unit? while it's solar charging.

That'd be nice if they made solar panels that can mount directly to a solar generator. Just run an extension cord to your TV and computer

What about kicking out the bottom of the panel, to aim it a bit better? How could you just blurt out, "This set up will definitely not pay for itself", without showing any numbers? It's not that I don't believe you but, rather, I just want to see the numbers.

Yeah of course its not going to be a big percentage increase right away but OVERTIME it will be. This is for people who are looking for a longer term increase. A 2% increase right off the bat (which is an extremely low end) is going to average out to a lot more savings overtime. Again this isn't a quick fix where you see immediate results, it takes time to see the profit.

Great video, but the stranded wire connection without ferrule/end sleeve (im not sure how it called in english, small metal tube pressed to the wires) bothers me. propably that kind of connector is perfectly safe with stranded wires, but somehow i cant stand wires that "naked"

I find it interesting that all three panels after the cleaning would differ in electrical production. Aren't they supposed to be identical? It makes sense that they would be different before the cleaning not after...

$100 is a waste for this setup Not much price difference between 20W and 50W panel. And Lifepo4 batteries provide better capacity and charge retention. And 12V bulbs instead of an inverter, no power loss between conversion. 1 can run 8 hours from a 12ah lifepo4 battery a 12W 12V DC bulb. Can charge my phone 2-3 times. Just use a cigarette lighter socket charger.

20W solar panel is useless Thats the first one i bought Big mistake Even to charge a phone, minimum u should buy is a 50W mono panel And also instead of a SLA, buy a lifepo4 12V12A battery Much better Buy a cheap cigarette lighter charger and just connect with 1.5sq.mm. wire Enough Inverter according to me is a waste of energy Better to buy some 12V bulbs and fans and such 20W or 50W solar panel is not enough anyways for most things. And u didnt count the losses for the SLA battery and inverter.

Anker makes a nice wall charger station. The solar charge controller is a joke that forces people to buy their over priced solar panels. 60 volt limit is ridiculous!

Now put the second panel back up and run them together and you should have all the power that room needs.

I struggle understanding the pricing that people get into on stuff like this. I have access to local companies that sell bigger used residential used panels 250w or so in the 40$ range. They exist all over the place across the US. For my use case I drop the small inverter in favor of direct DC powering for chargers for phones, laptops, fans, and lighting. Save the money from inverter and buy 2 lawnmower sized batteries for 24v in series and you are off to the races. Heck little U1 batts are under 30$ brand new and you can find em for dirt cheap used on local pages. Even seen some folks score great deals on used RV batts but that could push out the budget. WAY more bang for your buck - way faster charging - going to last longer in regular capacity - cheaper on wire - will run way more during peak charging - also lead acid will be much happier with a few hours of recharge time vs 2-3 days. Not even a step up in budget. same budget 250w vs 20w.

The main advantage of the Anker solar panel is that it is perfectly matched to get the 600-watt maximum the Anker supports. I haven't found any other panels that match as closely.

This is a great video - thank you! So many of these simple installations get bogged down as the presenter actually installs it in a building/shed. But you kept it simple...just laying everything out on the floor. I have a question about the choice of lead acid. The price is right, but other videos on the topic say it's the worst type of battery for a solar setup as these batteries are not supposed to be deep drained. I can think of a use case for this setup - a small garden water feature. Pumps can pull a lot of power so it would need to be small, and you can buy submersible 12V pumps really cheaply. So maybe you could create a follow-on video that also has a light sensor that would switch off the pump when it gets dark.

i see others have mentioned this but your take on the amps is not accurate. number one rule is never over voltage a unit! all of my power stations(i own Bluetti, Jackery,Anker and Oupes) will accept over watts and over amps and the mppt controller is fine with that. Collecting solar is a fluid and dynamic thing and over paneling is common to get good collection with less than ideal conditions.

I have to admit that Two days ago I was like. Power or solar chargers are for homeless or wild life adventures. Worthless for me! But after storms left our house with no power for two days so far I think They can safe lives. Now. if we don't have a phone It Feels like we are not in it. Great info when desperate and looking For a portable phone charger!. 👍

Thanks. I have similar renogy panel to replace a cheap one on the van. Testing before fitting I find good voc over 24v,but I can't find a current, zero. Checked as you did and also with meter in series connected to controller. Still zero?

At 6:17 - why did you divide by 50%? Only 50% is usable power? Confused on this part.

there is nothing stopping you from adding a few more panels or batteries aside the $100 budget luckily

If both cables are black, put a piece of tape on both ends of one to identify it as the positive cable. This can be very helpful if the cables are long.

I see a couple of others have already mentioned it, but your guidance on not exceeding the amperage rating is demonstrating a lack of understanding on how PV input works. In simple terms, "volts are pushed, amps are pulled". You can't control how many volts a panel pushes to a device, but the amps are pulled by the device, so within reason, you can absolutely exceed the amp rating without any issues. Stay under the VoC and you'll be in good shape, but you can safely "over-panel" by exceeding the amp number shows on any power station. That's just a number explaining the max amount it will pull.

You forgot to mention what it capable to power to sustain life. Gas/Butane/diesel powered generators provide plenty. plan accordingly. smh

The info you have given on Amps is incorrect. Volts are pushed and amps are pulled. You can over Amp all day and the power station will never draw more that its requested 10 or 12.5 amp. Its actually a good thing to have more Amps by over paneling. This will help on cloudy days. Over voltage is BAD, do that and you will let the magic smoke out of the box.

What a misinformation… u need to be in range with Volts, giving small reserve for opencircut and cold weather ( in cold, panels will perform better, higher temp. Lowers efficiency). But with Amps u can overpanel - so can go more then mppt controller, it will take what it is limited to, not more. So this 12A panel is ok, just will work with station limit of 10A. Very often u need to overpanel for worse weather. (Clouds, etc)
